The FF2500 Ethernet over DS3 (IP-over-TDM) Bridging Gateway enables Ethernet to be transported (bridged) over a DS3 line. Like an Ethernet over T1 Media Converter 10/100BaseT Ethernet is converted to DS3 and then back to Ethernet on the other side.
The unit supports four (4) x Ethernet ports and is packaged in a 1U High, 19-inch rack-mountable chassis. The converter provides a simple and cost-effective method to convert and transport Ethernet data over a DS3 link.
The unit functions as an Ethernet extension device using TDM telecom infrastructure (of leased lines, SDH rings, microwave links presenting DS3 interfaces ).
It simply Bridges two Ethernet LANs over an existing DS3-based telecom network. It accomplishes this by converting the Ethernet data into a TDM frame format for transmission over the existing DS3 links and then re-converting it back into Ethernet data at the far-end.
Clocking modes include Internal clock and Network clock (Loop-Timed clock). The device supports Jumbo Frames and accommodates up to 8192 frames with a maximum frame size of 1916 bytes.
Configuration and Management can be performed via a Windows based GUI, using a local serial RS232 Port or via one of the 10/100BaseT Ethernet ports for either local or remote management over IP.
